Portrait of a Nose Well-Kissed
This is Dolfi. We found him on a dusty shelf in the back of an antique shop in Bavaria. He was a bit moth-eaten and dirty, but I fell in love with him, and he has lived with us ever since.
I cleaned him up a bit, but I could never repair his nose. For a long time I didn't understand why I wanted to leave it that way. Then I remembered my favorite childhood toy - a cat - that I kissed and hugged so much that his face finally just wore off. I realized that, to me, Dolfi's worn nose speaks to the love of the boy or girl who was his original companion. He embodies the spirit of all well-loved and well-kissed toys.
